Ben and the Puh-puh Crayon

Note to self: Get Ben a copy of Harold and the Purple Crayon.

Here's another video that we shot on Saturday. Ben is playing with crayons. These are special toddler crayons that look like the tips of ordinary crayons (without the paper-covered barrel), but much larger and hollowed out, so that you can grip them in a fist or stick a thumb inside. Nice for stacking, too, as Ben figured out immediately. Ben is very talkative in this video. Note that "Bamimi" (used indiscrminately for any of his four grandparents) is starting to evolve into "Bimi" (Grammy) and "Bibi" (Grampy). Also note the two word phrase "brown line" at about 2 minutes 27 seconds.

I love those crayons! I'll have to find some for our plane ride in two months. The stacking and coloring should take up some time (g).

Ben's articulation is amazing- Nolan still lacks a lot of consonants (though he's probably within the developmental norm). That "language soup" is working its magic!

Is Ben left-handed? Seems like he used left one more than right one.

awwww! madeline and I follow your blog like crazy! we just can't get enough of our little genius of a 1st cousin once removed! honestly I didn't even know that there was such a thing as an icosahedron before reading this, so it's kind of sad that he knew about it's existence before I did...because I'm 16 and he's 14 months. <3 Alicia <3

Leah, my mother got them at a teacher supply store. I don't remember the brand, and we don't have the package anymore. They're nice.

Fethiye, we're pretty sure he's left-handed. He started favoring it pretty early, although there are times when he goes back and forth. Neil's a lefty, so some of what you're seeing is that Neil is sitting behind him and using his left hand.

Hey, Alicia! Howzit going? Now, I had always thought "second cousin" was the cousin of your parent (like Heather and John are to us), but last summer Aunt Kathy told me that Ben is your second cousin. Maybe you should check with her -- she knows this kind of stuff. And hey, who's the cute guy in the picture?

lol...well first of all the cute guy is my "big brother"(one of madeline's friends). and about the relation thing...Idk, madeline explained it to me that the offspring of your first cousin makes them once removed, and that a second cousin is your parent's cousin. but Aunt Kathy does tend to know just about everything...
