Ben's new obsession is the clock tower on the college campus where Neil and I teach. Yesterday I indulged him in a quick clock tower drive-by on our way home from daycare. Here is a tidbit from our dinner conversation, in which Ben recounted this experience to his father:
Ben: We did not hear the bells.
Neil: You're right. Sometimes the bells don't ring for a long time. You would have to wait a long time to hear them.
Ben: They ring every hour, and only once on the half-hour.
Why is a mindset still there?

He's an observant little fellow, isn't he? Wow!
I love clock towers- we live too far out from the city to hear them most of the time, but we get to hear the church bells ring at noon on Thursdays. Consequently, Nolan things ringing bells indicate the day of the week (Thursday) rather than time. Perhaps we need to get into the city more often!
I should explain the Thursday thing - we go into the city for preschool every Thursday).
hey that is real good hearing and observation. great work!
